“Becoming Edvard Munch: Influence, Anxiety, and Myth”

Norwegian symbolist painter Edvard Munch, 1863- 1944, is the subject of an exhibition to begin February 14, 2009 at the Art Institute of Chicago.
About 150 paintings, prints and drawings from Munch and his contemporaries, Vincent van Gogh, Max Klinger, Harriet Backer and Claude Monet, will be shown as examples of European Modernism and that genres themes of “loneliness and solitude, love and sexuality, death and dying.”
