“Houston Collects: African American Art” * 8/3 - 10/26/08

African American art from the 20th and 21st centuries on view at the Houston Museum of Fine Art . According to the museum site, the collection of over a 100 works will include “early crafts, self-taught artists, Southern academic circles (including the publication of Black Art in Houston by the McAshan Foundation), the Harlem Renaissance, the Civil Rights movement, abstraction, photography, Houston masters, and the New School .”
