Sherrie McGraw at the Scottsdale Artists’ School
The Creative Process Lecture Series Begins October 2, 2007
The Language of Art by Sherrie McGraw
The Scottsdale Artists’ School kicks off its 2007-2008 The Creative Process Lecture Series with a talk, The Language of Art, by artist Sherrie McGraw on Tuesday October 2. The lecture, which will begin at 7PM at the Scottsdale Civic Center Public Library, is free and open to the public.
McGraw, who is teaching a drawing workshop during Scottsdale Artists’ School’s 2nd Annual Drawing Week, October 1-6, 2007, studied at the Arts Students
League in New York City. Her mentor was David Leffel, who introduced her to the style and techniques of the Old Masters, particularly Rembrandt.
Her intricately crafted paintings today reflect these qualities, with strong light on a single object and dark backgrounds, evoking a sense of mystery in the simplest subjects.
