“Solomon’s Gift: The Founding Collection of the Guggenheim, 1937 – 1949” * Now thru Jan 9, 2008

350px-kandinsky_wwi.jpgIn celebration of the 70th anniversary of the creation of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, the museum will display some of the artwork that was donated between 1937 and 1949.  Mr. Guggenheim collected works by Kandinsky, Modigliani, Pablo Picasso, Henri Rousseau, Chagall and Moholy-Nagy and many others. Out of the 620 pieces acquired by this avid collector, 65 will be on view. The exhibition lasts until 1/9/08.    (Image: “Composition VII” (Kandinsky 1913)
